Bangkok’s atmosphere is fed by a lively clad of clubs, shopping malls, markets and street vendors. Each area in the city has something unique to offer hidden deep inside a seemingly unorganised sprawl of busy roads and office blocks.
With so much to offer and something different in every location, comes a tough proposition when faced with the task of finding a place to live. Here are some of the top five residential areas to purchase property in Bangkok.
Rama 3 Road
The upcoming Rama 3 road connects to both Sukhumvit and Silom. Additionally, it is only a stone throw away from Siam and China Town. As of now there is no BTS or MRT in this area, but it does benefit from a connecting service to the BTS via a rapid bus transport system that has its own lane on the road. Nearby, Central Rama 3 shopping centre offers super-markets, cinema entertainment, electrical shops and restaurants. Furthermore, the famous Bhumibol Bridge connects the area to Samutprakarn leading to the bottom of Sukhumvit Road as well as the industrial ring road of Bangkok.
There are plenty of gated villages with townhouses in this area with property for sale. Right now Rama 3 is a wise place to invest. It is predicted to be the next busy location in the city. Buying here now could result in a property worth twice the price in a few years from now as the metropolitan area of the city branches into the area.
Samut Prakarn
On the edge of the Outhern part of the city is Samut Prakarn. The area is quickly gaining in popularity. The area connects to Bearing BTS at the bottom end of the Sukhumvit line. With easy access into the main ex-pat area of the city, this area is ideal for the family man or women. Large garden properties with plenty of living space in modern or old style housing are all part of the property mix in this area. Plus, an hour down the road and you’ll find yourself staring directly at the Gulf of Thailand.
Thong Lo and Ekami
These two adjacent areas on Sukhumvit Road offer some of the most expensive properties in Bangkok. They attract the rich and famous, and so property is in demand. Here you’ll run into Bangkok’s hip rich kids attracted by the flurry of expensive designer restaurants, designer shopping establishments, bars and clubs. Both areas have a BTS and the MRT is also not far away. If you have in excess of 20 million baht in your locker, then Thong Lo and Ekami’s residential properties are just about within your reach.
Bang Kapi
Bang Kapi has long been the rural side of town. For real Thai style living, this area is ideal. The house prices are dirt cheap with a single detached two bedroom house costing as little as 1.5 million baht. Many of the developments in this area are brand new with an excess of new properties recently developed. The only disadvantage to living in this area is the lack of public transport. However, its quiet almost countryside like lifestyle with plenty of fauna and vegetation make the area quite scenic in itself.
Rangsit
In the northern suburbia of Bangkok lays Rangsit. The area is almost a city in itself. The huge Future Park is one of the largest shopping centres in the country on par with Central World in Siam. In this area there is an array of bars, restaurants and sports clubs. Also, close by is Safari World, Dream World, a Go Karting track and Gold courses. Low, mid and high end property is available in several locations surrounding Rangsit. While living here many residents continue to benefit from new existing developments. Every month there is something new to discover be it a new residential property or entertainment complex.
